It starts “in media res,” but Chekov skillfully slows down the action at points by arranging phrases chehov that at those points it, for me, was more arduous to think through his prose, slow prose which sometimes described very dramatic, fast-moving events.
Through her character, Chekhov had shown us basic human flaws like pride and ungratefulness.
