I don’t think it’s fair to judge a man’s character by the course of events in a story he wrote in when comparing it to modern sensibilities. I don’t know how convincingly Podkayne is written as a girl, but her relationship with her brother feels realistic to me, even if her brother is a little too smart. First to set the edition – this is the version of the book with the single ending – those of you who are aware know that its publishers demanded a rewrite as they were not happy with the original ending Heinlein wrote.

Book published by Baen Books in I would hope that most people in the world would disregard logic and personal safety to care for and protect innocents. Honestly, this felt like the first part in a serialized story.
