Especially with the Greater Knarlok. Does exist, in a form. It’s the Tau’s melee forces, but good luck tracking the models down, as they’re quite old as far as I know. I figured as much Automatically Appended Next Post: I just checked eBay. The Kroot themselves are up on the Webstore – is the Knarlok a must-have?
Soyuzki – A fluffy guidebook to my Astra Militarum subfaction. Another way would be to liet slide the landraider sideways like a big slowed hovercraft full of eels. No rules for the Knarloks in 8th, no Master Shapers either.
I ran Kroot Merc’s back when they came out, too. They were my favorite army for a long time. Pretty parrot painted Master Shaper birdies with evicerators and wings are something I dearly miss.
Wish GW would bring them back. I’d say yes to the Great Knarlok being necessary. Looking at the point value of Kroot themselves I’d need a big thing to eat points. Unless I only make a 1k Army and kkroot it a day.
Honestly I’m probably gonna give up on the idea. I don’t have a lot of time to devote to converting everything. Maybe someday they will come back.
Until then I’ll stick to my chaos. I’d hold off on any significant Krooty purchases until the new codex comes out. I’d be willing to bet that, at the very listt, we’ll get plastic Kroot Hounds and Krootoxen. With any luck, all the other forgeworld type stuff will come back, but I wouldn’t hope ,root breath on that. Maybe the “Tau, but not Tau” rumoured to be released next year will include some Kroot. I, llst one, hope for some Gue’vesa rules MalfunctBot wrote: That would be awesome if the rumors were for Kroot or something similar.
Kroot as an officially recognized army don’t really exist, outside of using the few Kroot units in the T’au Index to make your armies and even then, I think you’re missing out on Kroot HQ. They are also fairly adaptable as representing multiple different types of armies with the same models: Combine that with kitbashing and reasonable kropt representing “krootified” weapon loadouts, and just about anything can be represented though some, like ultra-high tech Admech and Necron tech, might seem inappropriate.
Ynnari Kroot Mercenaries (Female Kroot August 29) – Forum – DakkaDakka
They’re otherwise fairly similar, baseline stat-wise. Toss in the occasional Kroothereal, and you’ve got srmy awesome theme. Ork-like Kroot “Or’kroot” aren’t just a speculation, they’ve existed in fluff for quite a while now. Given different Kroot clans focusing on different prey, some of the Ork-like specializations could easily be represented. Eldar-like Kroot “Kroot’ari” have been also been encountered in the fluff, including their natural psyker capabilities.
They’re also armj somewhat fitting for the Kroot as they exist – fairly fast, lightly-armored, best in skirmishes, and somewhat naturally frail.
Astartes-like Kroot “Kroot’artes” could be a combination of both bloodlines, or independent of either.
Warhammer 40,000/Chapter Approved/Kroot Mercenaries
If you go with the former, you can represent more melee-focused chapters Space Wolves, Blood Angels, etc. This easily expands into the flavors of Chaos as well. Tyranid-like Kroot “Kroot’yranids” also have some basis in the fluff, generally with a Shaper laying down the law and declaring them inedible the horror!
A sufficiently dark take on Ethereal’s control over information and personnel gives krooot the wiggle-room needed to get around some pesky Shaper’s declaration, and Kroot already infected might escape to breed more. They’d make excellent Genesteealer Cult representatives for substantially similar reasons. IG -like Kroot “Astra Krootarium” make less sense, IMObut could make a fairly excellent baselike Kroot Mercenary lots of Imperial gear looted, as that’s incredibly prevalentperhaps with some Orkroot Mekrootic support providing the armored support.
Seriously, Kroot have some of the most flexibility in what they can represent, both on biological and technological levels. Why wait for an official list when you can borrow the mechanics of other armies in the meantime AND have it make reasonable thematic sense?
If you wanted to run kroot you could run a list like this: Kroot rifle Kroot Armh Explain the deep strike as though they had stealth generators equipped and just turned them off when they arrive. Convert the vespid into kroot with wings via mutations. Armu be a pretty awsome looking army and actually quite effective this edition.
It always did bewilder me a bit that Kroot kits existed in plastic, but the potential for mutations weren’t really well represented. Forum Tools Forum Tools Search. MalfunctBot Sneaky Sniper Drone. Unusual Suspect Poisonous Kroot Headhunter. ,root Longtime Dakkanaut UK. Honestly I think GW is so overwhelmed with production that they are not really pushing any or much new stuff with the new codex releases.
Tyranids got nothing despite there being at least two kits ideal for plastic within their ranks; meanwhile I don’t recall Eldar got anything save for a short term cast on demand of old sculpts. I’d wager GW is focused on just getting the codex out; then we’ll see new stuff released slowly through dataslate releases.
